Today's New Band of the Week are all girl trio, Weird Menace. Hailing from Dalston, they were perhaps inspired by the ninja who lives on my road, when choosing their name. Or just horror fiction...
From what I understand, the band features members of SNH favourites, La La Vasquez, and as such their music has a similar aesthetic. Comparable Sonic Youth and The Slit, their post-punk sound is raw, grungy and gritty, yet there is something strangely cathartic about it too. Have a listen:
