SNH Xmas Day I - Best Friends

It's Xmas Day and we've got Best Friends in the house for part i of our Xmas day madness!!!

What were your highlights of 2012?

This years been cool. We played a load of festivals and put out three releases. The highlight has to be the tour tho... we got to hang with so many dudes we don't really see that often and even got a three day vacation in Falmouth with The Black Tambourines. Other highlights have to be meeting Leyla Treble, stealing a boat & being able to take any vinyl or CD's that we wanted when we were let loose in Beggars Headquarters.

What can we expect from you in 2013?

We're about due another E.P so early next year probably. More tours, more festivals, more party's and more WWF themed merchandise.

Can we have a link to a Christmas track that you like please?

Why this track?

It's just awesome. When Brian Wilson played this at Glastonbury it was probably the most surreal experience of all time.

This is 'Witches' off our Throwing Up E.P which we released earlier in the year on Art is Hard Records. Its about going to a club in Sheffield where drinks are too cheap and you get super fucked up, which is rellevant cause Christmas seems to be one of the few acceptable times in a year to get in a state and its o.k with your whole family. Have a cool Christmas.

Breathe Out's record launch party April 1st

Art is Hard Records are putting on a party in London to celebrate putting out BREATHE OUT's debut EP the week before and we are DJing. It will be held at SNH's latest base of operations, The Victoria in Dalston and features sets from The Black Tambourines, Soft Arrows and obviously Breathe Out. We'll be joined on the decks by Jon Hillcock of NME/XfM radio. Can't wait.

We are honoured to have French boy/girl duo Reveille cross the border and headline our first night at The Victoria. The recent album “Time and Death” garnered rave reviews in their home country and has been described as frantic pop folk noise. Think Pixies, Nirvana, Pavement, and add that to the duo’s melodic, uncomplicated writing, inventive arrangements, little convoluted gimmicks, freshness and live intensity make us love this band!

NEW YEARS EVIL

Released one of our favourite split singles of 2010 with label mates The Black Tambourines, these guys will shower you with shoegazey guitars and pop melodies for you to dance the night away.

As noted above, their split single on the excellent Art is Hard label occupied our stereo muchly in 2010. Falmouth’s The Black Tambourines will care not for winter and infuse your soul with ‘waves of catchy, off-kilter guitars, echoey whoops and wails to produce a sun drenched surge of seashore sound”. Think No Age’s sinsister big brother….

SLUSHY GUTS

Not content with being a brilliant artist plying his trade as Chaos vs Cosmos (chances are you’ve seen one of his gig posters about), Slushy Guts is an  intimate one man guitar project. Mixing influences from SNH faves The For Carnation and Jim’O Rourke, do not miss our spaced out artist’s echoey, intimate offerings, and maybe treat yourself to some his art after the show…
