Flamingods release debut album 'Sun' on Art is Hard - 18/1/13

So one of our favourite bands got together with one of our favourite labels to release their very first album. And seriously, what an album it is. If you're not familiar with Flamingods, why the heck not? Of the record, the London-via-Bahrain self-proclaimed ‘ethno-poppers’ said:

Our individual influences vary, but for the music that we make we take our influences and learn a fair amount from listening to a lot of African dance music that we’ve discovered and shown each other.

We have tribal, folk and ritual influences too, as well as influences from bands such as Boredoms, Animal Collective, OOIOO and Sun City Girls. We find that music we make often sounds like a mixture of all these different sounds, often seeming alien but still relatable

This really is a magnificent first full length record,  so get buying and prepare to be seriously impressed.

SNH Xmas Day I - Best Friends

It's Xmas Day and we've got Best Friends in the house for part i of our Xmas day madness!!!

What were your highlights of 2012?

This years been cool. We played a load of festivals and put out three releases. The highlight has to be the tour tho... we got to hang with so many dudes we don't really see that often and even got a three day vacation in Falmouth with The Black Tambourines. Other highlights have to be meeting Leyla Treble, stealing a boat & being able to take any vinyl or CD's that we wanted when we were let loose in Beggars Headquarters.

What can we expect from you in 2013?

We're about due another E.P so early next year probably. More tours, more festivals, more party's and more WWF themed merchandise.

Why this track?

It's just awesome. When Brian Wilson played this at Glastonbury it was probably the most surreal experience of all time.

This is 'Witches' off our Throwing Up E.P which we released earlier in the year on Art is Hard Records. Its about going to a club in Sheffield where drinks are too cheap and you get super fucked up, which is rellevant cause Christmas seems to be one of the few acceptable times in a year to get in a state and its o.k with your whole family.
