Hired Muscle for Fortissimo
We are really stoked to be adding another of Bletchley’s finest, Hired Muscle, to our bill this coming Saturday.
This three piece pack their funky, riff heavy musings with an eclectic array of weird rhythms and beats; combining clattering clanging post-punk guitars with strange discords and timings to create something reminiscent of late 90s, muddled pop a la Pavement.
We are superdooper excited to be adding them to our line up, have a listen below...

Bilge Pump for Fortissimo
This Fortissimo Records 10th Anniversary show gets better and better. We are excited to announce the addition of Bilge Pump to the lineup.
Like SNH faves That Fucking Tank, Bilge Pump are from Leeds and release on Gringo Records. They also share Tank’s love for seriously heavy riffs and distorted grooves. Where the band come into their own is in the stunning blend of red-in-tooth-and-claw hardcore and surging, unpredictable math-rock. Shellac come close at times, but Bilge Pump have a wild energy that makes a live show a thrilling prospect.
With Bilge Pump sharing the bill with one of the UK’s other most exciting live bands, Action Beat, you’re in for a treat.

Fortissimo Records 10th Birthday w/ Action Beat | Ala Muerte | Bad Body | House of John Player | Toulouse Wolfe | Don O)))) - 23 July - The Victoria - Dalston
We are excited to announce our next very special show, to celebrate 10 years of Fortissimo Records. The label has treated us to the likes of SNH faves Action Beat, as well the Dawn Chorus and a special re-release of Glenna Branca's The Ascension. Headlining the night aptly is Action Beat, with support from a cast of Fortissimo related bands.
ACTION BEAT
Action Beat are an intense semi-improvised noise/no-wave punk ensemble, inspired by early Sonic Youth, Lightning Bolt, The EX, Glenn Branca and other avant guitar groups. Often expanding to as many as fourteen members for live shows, a normal gig will have at least three guitarists, a bassist and between one to four drummers, with some shows including saxophone, trumpet and violin. In the wrong hands, such overly-enthusiastic stage overpopulation can lead to muddy indifference - Action Beat, however, concentrate their excess into focused, yet ragged, grooves punctuated by bursts of screeching avant-punk noise and evil disco rhythms. Their blistering live shows are a riot of urgent punk energy and frequently descend into chaos (and sometimes semi-nakedness), so it’s not surprising that they’ve gained much recognition in the UK and Europe.
ALA MUERTE
Ala Muerte is the brainchild of New York resident Bianca Bibiloni. Layers of guitar and vocals swirl beneath her softly sung lyrics. Gentle vocal melodies float atop dissonant sound collages which often feature a wide array of instruments ranging from guitar, double bass, mixing bowl, alto and soprano recorder, viola, drums, and 10-string cuatro.
BAD BODY
Side project of headlining superstars Action Beat. Bad Body re-imagine the brute-force of mid 80's British Power-Electronics channelled into the 21st centuries neo-liberal induced macho-paranoia. With nods to bands such as Ramleh or Whitehouse, Badbody are also very much on their own trip, using the horror of between tour casual blue collar work as the impetus behind their specific industrial nightmare. Also known to eat worms on s Mankind by BadBody tage.
The ongoing bedroom/lo-fi project of Dean Spencer, which has moved through guitars, keyboards, loop pedals, and songs of total charm... somewhere between Animal Collective, Durutti Column, Ariel Pink.
Beautiful dulcet tones float over picked guitar conjuring memories of PJ Harvey's more recent works. The at times melancholic folk from the immensely talented Londoner is not to be missed.
Mr Fortissimo and Action Beat guitarist lends his solo talent with his take on all things noisy, from white noise to bagpipes.
