Top 3 @ 3:33

As I spend an ever increasing amount of time in Prague, I have gone for an apt Czech theme. Alas, this proved harder than I thought, but here are the three top Czech bands I did find!

The Ecstacy of Saint Theresa

By Far my favourite Czech band I have encountered in my life. Shoegaze guitars with nods towards grunge and crystalline powerful vocals. If you know me now, you know that's my idea of heaven. Enjoy this, if it was English, surely it'd have at least been a cult hit?

Wild Tides

This track is awesome, perfect garage surf rock to remember summer as Autumn is upon us. These guys are pretty new, and we hope to see them over in the UK before too long. And judging from the infectious melodies and terrifically heavy guitars juxtaposed alongside some subtler plucking, I can see the UK scene taking to them very quickly indeed.
Wild Tides - Hearts on Fire

Plastic People of the Universe

Long before Rage Against The Machine stopped Wall Street and Pussies Rioted, one band decided to take on the Communist regime in the then Czechoslovakia. After a tonne of arrests and hardships, they eventually won through with the fall of the Communist regime, although despite their clashes with the government, the musicians never considered themselves activists and always claimed that they wanted only to play their music.
