So, Dead Wolf Club are back after a mammoth amount of shows in support of their debut self titled album. After finishing up in Epsom last Friday, we caught up with Alwin to share some of their fondest memories from their first tour. What better way than a list of Top 3's. Everyone loves lists, especially lists that feature porn stars and a Volvo.
Top 3 Gigs
The whole tour was an incredible experience. Hotels, driving, driving, driving, driving and playing the odd show. The driving was worth it as we were left with some incredible memories. All the gigs we played were memorable for some reason or another, and a special shout out needs to go to Nick's Old Tavern in Horncastle. However, these three shows were amongst the finest memories of our lives!
The Clarendon, Isle of Man. Memorable memorable night. Four guitars destroyed in front of an amazing crowd. The venue was full of wonderful people who treated us so well and all had some crazy stories to tell. To top it off, Isle of Man is such a beautiful place. Isle of Man, we will never forget you.
Atari Teenage Riot support at Old Blue Last. Yes, yes, yes. Massive appreciative crowd. And ATR are legends and continue to surpass just about every live act out there. Soundguy, if you ever read this, you are a genius.
The Brudenell Social Club, Leeds. What a great venue, if not the nicest venue I've ever seen. Great vibe about the whole setup and promoter was top notch. The venue has a number of amazing acts grace the stage every week, and it was a pleasure that we got to play such an incredible establishment.
Top 3 Car Choons
As we left in such a rush, we had to grab the first batch of CDs we could find. Unfortunately, they were the first batch we could find from my flat, and they were all mostly shit (Now 41 anyone?). However, with such limited choice, we made the most of the CDs we did have and subsequently played any half decent tunes to death.
Monkey Wrench - Foo Fighters
This would get us super amped before we arrived at the venue. Even after the 20th listen it never failed to work its magic and get the adrenaline pumping...
Little Baby Nothing - Manic Street Preachers
Did not know this was about a porn star. Did not know that there was a porn star singing in the song. I needed about 12 listens to get over that.
Chicago Train - The Besnard Lakes
It started snowing, we were driving through Lake District. This made that moment magical. We were one with the world, one with the Volvo, one with life.
Top 3 support bands
Not really a top 3 per se as we played with numerous great bands, however, these 3 have immense skills.
The Amber Herd
This band of misfits are mighty class act from Nottingham. They made Leicester very special for us and are one of the nicest bunch of people we've met. Live, they are a beast, well worth checking out.
Event Horses
Take Cobain, throw in some mathcore drumming, mix with System of a Down, and this is what you get. AMAZING!
Call The Doctor
Met these guys in Bristol. The lead singer has an astounding voice and their rhythms and guitars should also be commended.
