New Band of the Week 27/02/12 - Cabaret Scene

AGH! This is so good! Our new band of the week, this week, comes in the form of Cabaret Scene. Like anything that incorporates the word ‘Scene’ in its name, this shizzle is pretty freakin’ rad.

New track ‘Porcelain Swimmers’ is a delight in bubbling tropical pop; full of calypso beats, hazy vox and twinkly hooks.

Elsewhere, in ‘Namaste!’ for example, CS go for a bit of a prog rock vibe; which is defused with lo-fi, grainy undertones, and splicing retro synths.

‘Strawberry Hill’ on the other hand, is a chilled out lullaby; dreamy and wistful; building layers of instrumentals, to create a forceful climax. It kind of reminded me a tad of Mogwai in this respect.

There is so much variation to these chaps' sound, that it’s hard not like at least one aspect of their repertoire. I think there will be some great things to come from Cabaret Scene in the future. Do have a listen and get downloading, this really is very good stuff.
