We love Autumn! We flippin’ love it!
It’s time to forget the brief crazy Indian summer of the last few days, dig out your favourite moth-eaten jumpers, put on your leaf-kickers and kick some leaves!
The world takes a deep breath at the end of summer and then slowly, steadily, exhales in a deep satisfied sigh. It’s a time for pondering in parks and gardens, scuffing along in the golden light as you plough through the delicate skins shed by ancient trees. Do you ever pretend that your breath is your soul trying to escape as you see it drift off into the crisp morning air?
Elsewhere; squirrels go mental like furry contestants in a non-stop episode of nature’s ‘Supermarket Sweep’, and nature’s funkiest fruit - the conker – is suddenly everywhere. Bonfire night is just around the corner, and I’m always reminded of my Mum’s horror-struck face as she strode with a smug grin into a big mound of golden brown oak and sycamore leaves and unknowingly plunged her right leg ankle-deep into the corpse of a mouldering dead cat. Dead kitty loafer! Fun times!
So... in honour of this most majestic time of year, we are pleased to introduce Scene Not Herd’s “Autumn Knit” – a series of 4 themed mini-mixes intended to evoke the grand old lady of the seasons, accompanied by the not-so-insightful views of the SNH crew. Oh... and there are jumpers too... did we mention the jumpers?
