SNH Interview Fishing

Ahead of their first UK show with us at the Old Blue Last next Thursday, we caught up with the bodacious chaps from Fishing...

SNH:Yo! You excited to be coming over to UK?

Chyeah! We just got here, everything reminds us of Harry Potter, there's some sweet london weather and it feels like we're in a city of love.

SO excited to play a show here, getting restless not having got it out live for a month or two.

SNH:So tell us about your sound, it’s pretty unique?

SO TOTALLY UNIQUE, like our sparkling personalities it is basically a mash of a thousand things we've heard.

SNH:What kind of influences do you draw upon?

We only choose sounds and influences that are worth less than 50p, so that's super used things, or really new free things.
SNH:Your one desert island disc?

FISHING DISCOGRAPHY, does the island have wi-fi?
SNH:There are two of you, and the actual music sounds very complex at times. Is the song writing process relatively easy and how do you put the songs togther?

Usually it just comes from just completely messing around separately then, dual processing, hooking up, trial and error until it's vibetown to both our tastez.

SNH:Long gone are the days of the UK solely having Kylie; Australian indie music is becoming more prevalent in the UK with people like Nick Cave leading the way. Who from the current crop of young Australian indie starlets could you recommend to Scene Not Herd readers?

Sydney gives us a full on robot chubby right now. Guerre, Albatross, Collarbones, Oscar + Martin, Danimals, Seekae (they're touring here right now).
SNH:And how about any UK bands catching your attention?

Little Mount Kimbie, Star Slinger, Prizes, Anyone on Tri Angle records, New band called Cocteau Twins, and US seeing as we're here.
SNH:One odd Fishing fact?

If you can see a trout following your lure shyly, a variation in speed will often entice a strike!
