Hooray! I have the internet back, after being without proper access to it for an entire month which means NO NEW MUSIC! I haven’t even been able to update my ipod (because I’m too lazy to type out the track listings). I was feeling like a borderline pleb; with my only sonorous stimulation limited to, god forbid, the TV i.e. T4 on the beach and that terrible Hollyoaks music show. I’ve been so deprived, I’ve started enjoying The Wanted (I’m not even joking). Should probably invest in that digital radio, for emergencies...
So, my new band for the week (well, as per the above, technically the month) is the splendiferous Gross Magic. The name conjures the essence of bogey flavoured Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans but the music lucky evokes something different. Brighton based Gross Magic, also known as the one man band, Sam McGarrigle, soars high on a his own floaty brand of 80s lo-fi. McGarriagle layers his effeminate vocals with twinkly synths and deep beats to hypnotically deliver grunge tinged, static drenched, ultra-violet dream pop. Give it a whirl.
